Why upgrade your switchboard
A lot of Oran Park and Gregory Hills homes went in with boards that were fine for lights and a dishwasher. They were not designed for a wall charger, a heat pump and a solar inverter on the same day. If your board still has ceramic fuses, missing RCDs, or no spare ways, that is the job.
Heat-damaged busbars and labelled circuits that do not match what is actually on them also turn up. That is a safety problem, not a cosmetic one.
Fuse board vs RCD safety switches
A fuse blows after the fault. An RCD cuts the circuit in milliseconds when it sees current leaking to earth, which is what stops a shock being fatal. NSW expects RCD protection on power and lighting circuits in a dwelling. If your Oran Park board does not have it, upgrading is the fix, not a workaround.
A new enclosure is fitted with labelled RCDs and circuit breakers, and every circuit is tested before the electrician leaves. You receive a record of the work from the licensed electrician.
Solar and EV-ready upgrades
If you are planning solar or a home charger, do the board first. Retrofitting extra ways later costs more and means another power isolation. The board is sized for an EV charger installation in Oran Park and for solar-ready wiring, including inverter and battery isolators where they are needed.
Cost in Oran Park
Cost depends on the board. A like-for-like safety-switch upgrade on a single-phase board is the simpler job. Three-phase, meter isolation with the network, or extra circuits for solar and EV add to it. The electrician looks at the board and gives you a quote before work starts.
We cover Oran Park and the rest of the Camden region service area. If your board looks unsafe, send the quote form and say so.
